Where do broken hearts go?

This is for Yesterday...I'm quite the Grandma and therefore couldn't keep my droopy eyes open another second after finally reaching my bed last night! haha

It started off with a nice little jiggy jog with my dad in the morning...I make it sound fun...but I'm pretty sure my post-half marathon legs would have to disagree. lol :) It's gonna take a little more coercing to get them to start cooperating again....

Then, a friend of mine with a broken heart came into town just to get away for a day and chat.

I find it sooo amazing how the best of times and the worst of times are often one and the same...

He's broken hearted...his spirit is sooo heavy...

Yet he's closer to the Lord than he's ever been, and there's such a PEACE in that.

"The righteous cry, and the LORD hears

And delivers them out of all their troubles.

The LORD is near to the brokenhearted

And saves those who are crushed in spirit.

Many are the afflictions of the righteous,

But the LORD delivers him out of them all."

(Psalm 34:17-19)

I love those promises.

Talking to him took me back to a time in my own life where things seemed to be falling apart all around me...

I had broken a heart that was so precious to me, which in turn broke mine as well.

I was anxious about the future...

questioning my decisions...

I just felt so lost and confused.

And that's when those verses rang sooooo true in my life.

God heard my cry.

He was near to my broken heart.

And he saved my crushed spirit!!

HALLELUJAH!!!! :)

I had a stack of scripture cards, promises from God's POWERFUL Word, that I would pray over myself every morning, every night, in the car, in the grocery line....

"And do not be conformed to the pattern of this world,

but be TRANSFORMED by the

RENEWING OF YOUR MIND,

so that you may prove what the will of God is,

that which is good and acceptable and perfect."

(Romans 12:2)

His Word renewed my mind.

It gave me HOPE for the FUTURE.

It helped me see past my circumstances

And trust in His ways.

"'For I know the plans I have for you,' declares the LORD,

plans to prosper you and not to harm you,

plans to give you HOPE

and a FUTURE."

(Jeremiah 29:11)

"Set your minds on things above,

not on earthly things.

For you died,

and your life is now hidden

with Christ in God."

(Colossians 3:2b-3)

"'For My thoughts are not your thoughts,

nor are your ways My ways,'

declares the LORD.

'For as the heavens are higher than the earth,

so are My ways higher than your ways,

and My thoughts than your thoughts."

(Isaiah 55:8-9)

I'm overwhelmed with gratitide everytime I think about it!

He WAS, IS, and ALWAYS WILL BE
